In the spring of 2022, an IKEA Planning Studio will be opened at the Pekuri shopping quarter in Oulu, with the aim of making home planning easier than ever before. At once, the customer can both choose the products and design the interior for the space they want together with an IKEA home planning expert. The new IKEA Planning Studio concept is part of IKEA Finland’s transformation, which aims to be even closer to its customers.

IKEA invests in meeting customers in the Oulu region by opening a new IKEA Planning Studio right in the city’s most central location. The approximately 650 m2 shopping centre space has an inspiring exhibition area for kitchens, bedrooms, living rooms and Home Smart solutions. The space will not include restaurant services or products to buy and carry out. Instead, the IKEA-range can be ordered and delivered to each customer’s front door or a chosen pick-up point.

“We are very excited that IKEA Planning Studio will be opened in Oulu and in the Pekuri shopping quarter. This is the cherry on top in Pekuri’s wonderful development story and IKEA will definitely be one of the property’s key tenants. We are proud to offer a home for such a great concept”, says Tea Siivola, Commercial Director at Trevian Funds AIFM.

“Our new IKEA Planning Studios easily serve residents in the city centre, close to other services. The IKEA Planning Studios opened last year in Helsinki and Jyväskylä have been very well received, and now we are happy to next take a step closer to many of our customers in the Oulu region”, says IKEA Finland’s Business Development Manager Ann-Christin Pilviö.

Special investment fund Trevian Finland Properties I bought 97% of the Pekuri city block in June 2019, when it was almost empty after Stockmann’s departure. As a result of significant investments and active leasing, the occupancy rate of the block has already risen to over 75 percent. “As a domestic and local player, it is a matter of honour for us to be involved in developing an attractive and economically vibrant city centre in Oulu”, says Director Siivola.
